Work Performance and Incentives, Understand technical drive

How do you motivate developers and technical people to create and develop innovative solutions in this evolving world? Let’s take a couple steps back from the technical and take a look at the underlying incentives and studies of rewards and out of the box thinking. Fantastic video.

This video struck many great points. Some that I particularly live by:

  • Paying developers enough so they do not think about the money, they think about the work. Market Value++
  • Do not leave up-standing walls for creative development. Keep doors open for things to change, and out-of-the-box solutions will come about and revolutionize technologies developed.
  • Allow developers to master technologies in their specialty and it will pay dividends.
  • Give developers free days, that allow them to work on plans to improve upon what they think will increase overall performance.
