Hurricane Irene – Coming through Baltimore and NYC

Hurricane Irene is coming through town this weekend and we are expected to have some damage. Many parts of Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey have been ordered to evacuate due to flood concerns. Either way, it seems that most everybody I know is safe, so now that we are safe, lets explore some of the technical effects of this coming storm.

The one thing to consider when serving up data over the internet is how reliable your servers are going to be in natural disaster. Take a look at this promo ad by a Canadian based network provider:

And then, I’m sure we all go to the extreme, thinking about the ultimate solutions, such as underground bunkers… lol
