Browser Virtualization and Streaming from Spoon!

Applications delivered on the web! Yes, this is where the pendulum has been swinging… Yes, do you remember, we swing from Terminal-based systems to client-based systems. is a little mix of both, where you can stream virtual applications over the internet, download them to your computer and run them locally without any installation or configuration.

This I found particularly interesting when needing to test other browsers for web application projects. Typically, I’ll have a set of browsers installed on my machine, so that I can run through them and be sure that everything is taken care of. In many cases, I’ll have virtual machines that have series of browsers installed on each set. But, with browser virtualization and streaming, such as, you can launch any of these browsers virtually. includes a set of Firefox, Safari, Chrome, and Opera browsers and many versions that you can use for testing. And a plus, if you launch the virtual Firefox 4.0, 3.6, 3.5, 3.0, or 2.0 it doesn’t mess with your Firefox 5+ addons! Finally!! Internet Explorer versions have been removed because Microsoft asked to take them down. If these IE versions were up, it would literally be the holy grail for web application testing. GJ!

Here are the current browsers they have:
Firefox 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, 3.6, 4.0, 5.0
Google Chrome 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
Safari 3, 4, 5
Opera 9, 10
