Microsoft buys Yammer for $1.2B – Social Enterprise

In the midst of all the small company scoop ups, Microsoft plays its hand and scoops up Yammer for $1.2B, which is an Enterprise Social Networking company. It seems that the next big thing, now that we all know Facebook has wrapped up Social Networking on the personal side and while we watch Google try and take a foothold, is to take the enterprise work space. LinkedIn has professional networking and in my opinion, those barriers aren’t too high. In the Social Enterprise world, we have Jive, which just decides to do what it wants and plays by the rule of telling their customers what they want. Yammer is also in this space.
