Ubuntu Tablet to be Announced After Several Tab Hacks

It seems like the mobile strategy for Ubuntu is well on its way, well earlier than previously thought, the Ubuntu Tablet is rumored to peek it’s head in the next coming weeks, a lot of people saying as early as tomorrow. This will be a new tablet OS to compete with the already dominating iPad, Android, and Windows 8 devices. We can completely forget about WebOS and it hurts my brain too much to try and thing of any other tablet OS’s that may exist out there, maybe the crackberry.

Canonical, a primary developer and contributor to Ubuntu, released earlier this year their intent to produce a mobile operating system based on their widely popular Linux Ubuntu system. They had several aesthetic demonstrations and road map plans, and it looks like the excitement is huge. With hacks on the Galaxy Tab and other Android tablets, it seems that the Android revolution may just be the spin that Ubuntu needs to get rolling. Take a look at this Ubuntu tablet hack and think about what may become the 3rd or 4th major competitor in the space. I have my doubts, but it’s fun to think about.
