Create Your Own 3D Cases Using OpenSource CAD

3d-graphics-case-model

There are literally tons of open source CAD drawings done for a variety of the most popular phones out there. Irene had an idea to create a very special and unique type of case, but we were struggling with getting a CAD expert in there to do the design of the product. What’s cool is that for the Samsung Galaxy S3, we were easily able to open up a pre-made CAD file in Google Sketchup and Blender. What’s even cooler is that even though we do not have a 3D printer, we can schedule time at the local library to do a printing in DC.

3D printing is going to get easier and easier as time passes. Modifying the 3D prints, that might be the place that we start investing more of our time to figure out.
